Nicolas, an aging doctor, has an incurable disease. He no longer loves his wife, younger than him, and is struggling to understand his adolescence. The only person he can reach is his adopted daughter Katia. But Katia, in her thirties, is suffering from deep melancholy. The pain of her daughter leads the old man to be confronted with the great questions of existence. He is as lost as he can be. He believes there is something missing, something that could make his life whole.
